Situation Report #11

Update!  Get your update here!

  1. Planktons are WAY up -  273,000....umm stop the prayers.  Dad is now on a blood thinner!  When you guys all jumped in with your positive attitudes I knew the doctors better STAND BACK.
  2. Dad withstood the first round of chemotherapy nicely.
  3. The blood clot....well as far as we know it's still there but we would love another scan to see.  Dad has been breathing better.  In my world of rainbows and unicorns it is gone but then when was the last time you saw a horse, while sober, with a horn and wings?
  4. Already his AITL symptoms are down.  Such as the night sweats that kept him up ALL NIGHT.  Enjoy the slumber Daddio
Dad has been resting, sort of.  I guess if you call sitting by the door asking if he can go outside and play every 5 seconds "resting".  Mom of course is guarding the door.  Not so fast there Eddie.

How proud I am of the new generation of bloggers we have created or should I say old generation now blogging?

Me: "Now click the comments button, toward the bottom, in the middle, go back, right, click the box...."

I jest.  We love it and keep it coming.

  1. This is the best news! Maybe Ed needs to keep up the ice cream regimen :). So let's all dream of unicorns and maybe the blood clot will be gone! Love to you all. Kelly

  3. Uncle Eddie, just wanted to let you all know that we pray for you every day!!! God can work miracles in our lives...those doc's are people too and sometimes their estimates are a little off...(They gave my father-in-law 3 to 6 months when he had his cancer...it's been over ten years!!) Keep your spirits up and know that if you need anything, we are but a stones throw away...Love you all, Cami

  14. Col: Very glad to hear good news and howdy to the whole team. Following the SITREPS from Aviano AB Italy, where I am on a daily basis attempting to live up to the motivating words you wrote on that t-shirt you gave me about 15 years ago. I know Navy aviation on an AF base is a far cry from the green side, but I'll get there Sir. You have my thoughts and prayers of course. And you'll have to tell me what kind of Northern Italian wine I can bring back for you. Keep improving and hope to see you soon.

  15. I am glad things are getting better. Susie and I are both in the fight. So many good times at OCS, TBS, the FMF and Quantico. Good cigars, steaks, stories and actually Ed is a heck of landscape artist. I was amazed by his work in Triangle. Tell Ed to put this in perspective. Not near as hard as a double running of the O Course in 1974. Glad to hear Matt is or was home. A great Marine tradition continues.

  21. Herr Colonel,
Finally got all checked into the site and qualified to send a message. Start by explaining that you were the inspiration and the "bar" for excellence as a Marine..especially in the Artillery. Our days in 1/11 76-78 preparing for the next fight will be with me always. You reminded all of us new "butter-bars" that we would be good for the challenge whatever came our way. You leading Battery A and us Jarheads in Battery B, C, & K. Well I'm here to tell you Comrade that we have heard your call for fire and the prayers are happening without ceasing. No cease firing, no check firing...JUST TIME ON TARGET. May God's hand be on you and yours Sir! May HE heal you and lift you up every moment. The plan is to win...and all Glory to God in support of His Leathernecks and it's Colonel of Marines. Semper Fidelis, PD Connally MARINE

  24. Well, I've noticed no one has cussed in their posts so I'll just say I'm as happy as one of your wayward young captains could be about your progress and apologize for not knowing what was going on earlier. OTTIHNSO.

  25. Colonel, I'm sorry to hear you're ailing, but glad to know you're on the upswing. We can't keep a good man down, and you're one heck of a good man. Not a day goes by where I don't say, either out loud or mentally, "other than that, I have no strong feelings", then I smile. I just noticed Mike Broihier referenced that, as well. One of the many strong impressions that you made upon us devoted Captains. I look forward to seeing you, Mary, and the rest of your family, soon. Michelle sends her love, as do I. -- Bob Armstrong

  26. Wisdom Jacket-

Great to see the recovery begin! You've been an inspiration to me and countless Marines and your pluck in this fight continues the tradition. Guess I'll have to hold off on the cigar/scotch fest till you pull thru this fight too. Keep charging! Semper Fi from 3/11 & 11th Marines Alumni!

  29. Hey, Uncle Ed....Soooo happy to see you. I didn't realize you were there at the reunion until Aunt Elmira said, Yeah he's right outside. I have to admit, I jumped and clapped like a little kid. You fight that fight young Man and you look awesome. I continue to pray for you and your lovely caregiver. Love, Madalena

  30. Just got word from Bob Armstrong that you have been ill; so regret hearing that but so good to see the latest positive news. I especially enjoyed your after action report (even though it wasn't in proper MCLLS format)! Over the past couple of years several NCOs have asked me to promote them, and every one of them has heard what you learned about NCO leadership at Khe Sahn and passed along to so many of us. Lisa and I will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers - Marc LaClair
